What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are one of the most popular anti-ageing treatments. They are injections of hyaluronic acid that help to restore volume and fill in lines around the face for a younger, rejuvenated appearance.
How are dermal fillers applied?
Dermal fillers are administered by a trained medical practitioner and are injected around the face using various techniques.
What happens during treatment?
Dermal fillers generally take around 30 to 45 minutes to administer. Your medical practitioner will discuss your thoughts and assess your face to decide on the best treatment plan for you. They will then determine the injection site to achieve the best results for you. Topical anaesthetic is generally applied 30 minutes before the treatment.
Your practitioner will then administer the dermal fillers through several injections. You can usually feel the initial injection but the procedure shouldn’t be painful as most dermal fillers contain lidocaine products. You can return to work or day-to-day activities immediately.
Who are dermal fillers suitable for?
Dermal fillers can be used to treat a range of areas and concerns. At Fourways, treatments include:
Dermal fillers can smooth lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth.
Filler can be used to soften the lines between your mouth and chin.
Lips & vermillion border
Enhance your lips and add definition for a fuller, more balanced mouth.
Soften and smooth the vertical lines around the lips caused by smoking.
Our cheeks flatten as we age, resulting in the loss of youthful contour and creating lines, dropping and hollowness. Filler can be injected into the cheeks to rejuvenate the entire appearance of your face.
The tear trough is the area beneath your eyes. As we age, we lose volume in this area, which can cause dark circles, hollows and bags. Injecting fillers can help to restore volume and make you look younger and well-rested.
Fillers can be used to temporarily enhance the shape of your chin, whether that’s to add volume to a weak chin or to smooth out irregularities such as dimpling.
Are there any side effects to dermal fillers?
If they do occur, they are temporary and mild to moderate. The most common side effect is slight bruising and swelling from the injection sites. A detailed list of side effects can be obtained from the practitioner at your consultation.
When can you see results?
Dermal fillers work instantly, so you’ll see the results right away.
How long do dermal fillers last?
On average, dermal fillers last 4 to 8 months, but this can differ for each individual.
