Facelift Surgery A mini facelift surgery Improving the jowls and neck to make you look and feel years younger in Sevenoaks
What is facelift surgery?
The passing years, sun exposure and stress can cause your skin to lose its firmness and show laxity, and your jowls to set in and become increasingly prominent. A facelift is a type of surgery performed to improve the jowls and neck area by repositioning tissue of the face. Nothing matches the ability of a facelift to make you look more youthful and refreshed.
At Fourways Dental & Aesthetics Clinic, we offer an innovative local anaesthetic mini facelift procedure, suitable for women and men who want to reverse the signs of ageing in a less invasive way. The procedure differs from a traditional facelift as you will experience minimal bruising and swelling and a significantly quicker recovery period. A key benefit is that there is minimal scarring, as the incisions are easily concealed within your natural facial contours and hairline.

Sagging skin and excess facial tissue in the lower 2/3 of the face
How does a facelift work?
Facelift surgery works by repositioning tissues that have migrated downwards with time. In technical terms, the layer of tissues that is being lifted is the SMAS layer (Submuscular Aponeurotic System).
There are different techniques to treat this SMAS layer during facelift. Some surgeons use stitches to fold the SMAS onto itself, some trim off a strip or an area of SMAS and then stitch up the ends. The excess skin is then trimmed off and the wound closed without tension.
The procedure typically takes 2-3 hours. It’s commonly performed in conjunction with a blepharoplasty to open out the eyes and give a completely rejuvenated look.
What happens after facelift surgery?
You are able to go home and rest straight after your procedure. There may be minimal swelling, bruising, tenderness, but most people feel comfortable getting back to work within a week or two.
How long does a facelift last?
After your facelift surgery, which can make you look up to 10 years younger, the natural ageing process doesn’t stop. Depending on how old you are when you have the operation, you may want to have a second procedure in 10 to 20 years’ time.
What are the complications and side effects associated with facelift surgery?
Most patients heal very well following facelift surgery, but of course all surgeries have risks. Possible but rare side effects include:
Haematoma
Infection
Nerve damage <1%
Numbness around the side of the face
Scarring
Thinning of hair around scar
